What’s new with the Vortex Extreme? When it comes to the location and course itself – pretty much everything.
Breathtaking scenery: The match takes place in the heart of Wyoming’s famed Wagonhound ranch. Mountain vistas and beautiful terrain play backdrop to one of the most dynamic long-range matches in the country.
More shooting: Shooters were requesting to shoot more, so that’s what we’re doing. Plan for more targets and approximately 60-100 shots.
No cement shooting pads: All shots will be taken from natural terrain with varied shooting positions.
Teams of two will shoot one at a time. In past years, up to three teams have shot side-by-side. This aided in course flow but was problematic for teams trying to break clean shots. Our goal is to manage course flow with minimal delays while offering a higher quality shooting experience when it’s time to start pulling triggers.
Hunter: Any bolt action or single shot rifle under 10 lbs. including any permanent or semi-permanent attachments (.338 Lapua or smaller)
Open: Any bolt action rifle (.338 Lapua or smaller)
Gas Gun: Any semi-auto rifle (.338 Lapua or smaller)
Where do I fly in?
Fly into Denver. Rent a car to drive from Denver to Douglas (about a 3 hour drive).
Fly into Casper. It is a smaller airport so it can be trickier to find flights, but you will be around 50 miles from Douglas.
The local range for checking zero.
